No one wants to get sick. No one wants the head ache and body ache that come along for the ride. However... Do the numbers. less than .0020 % of infected, succumb to the flue.

29 reported dead last week by the Gov. A week latter, the number is 4000 ?..

Certainly one should not discount the loss of life related to this new flu strain. But, less than 6% of all parents have chosen to vaccinate their children from it.. Surprised?

68,000 die in the U.S. every year from flu. Personally, I'll take my chances.

I really think they are fabricating a crisis. A lot of doctors don't even test for swine flu anymore, they just blindly accept that their patients have it.

TGC, the reason they don't test for it is because the seasonal flu hasn't been in "breakout phase" yet. There are periodic tests that are generated, but overwhelmingly -- the send-up's are swine/h1n1 coming back.

It's kind of like, a woman gains weight, stopped having her period and the HCG levels all seem to indicate she's pregnant. Sure, you could ultra-sound her, but it's pretty safe to say she's pregnant. If ANY of those indicators were otherwise (like... it's a guy, or is still having a regular period) then you have to keep checking.

Go ahead, ask the guys at the labs who run the tests -- they are swamped, and then ask what the leading results are showing (well, ok the leading results are things like, too much cholesterol, and stuff like that too, but from an infectious disease vantage).

We live in an age of suspect. By that I mean, the populace is shell shocked from the happenings of the last few years. Wars, economy, joblessness, bank fraud, health insurance debate, global warming, etc, etc,.

Rather this is a threatening epidemic or not? We as a nation will be skeptical of its validity.

Bottom line: Billions have been spent by the federal government on the development and manufacturing of a vaccine.

We can speculate as to the effectiveness or the side effects of the vaccine. as well as the propaganda justifying as well as urging the distribution of the vaccine, or pondering a possible hidden agenda of the giant politically connected pharmaceutical manufactures that benefit from the supposed epidemic.

Or we can flip a coin, deciding rather or not to participate in a posibly well orchistrated hoax.

I for one hope that it's B.S.

Well, Ray...

The problem is... the epidemic is a pandemic, actually. Our country spent a lot on a vaccine. But the maker of the vaccine is French (Sanofi-Aventis) -- well, they are the primary manufacturer. So, our gov't made nothing by this vaccine nor by the pandemic.

But whether you trust our country's gov't means nothing.

France, Spain, England, Italy, Mexico, Brazil, Japan, China, Russia and so on have spent a great deal too, and many of them have been hit harder than we have.

In fact, it's been the World Health Organization that has been steering the general response, labelling it a level 5 pandemic alert back in late April. They are HQ'd in Switzerland (as non-American as you can get).

Just in the Ukraine, they've reported 250,000 cases.

The WHO has reported confirmed cases in 199 countries.

It will be interesting to see where this goes. I did not imply that the government benefited from the pandemic, only that federal funds had been ear marked to pay for the vaccine. 600 million doses, I believe is the number. And as I stated earlier. I hope that it doesn't develop into a full blown epidemic in the U.S.

I've been following this for two years, I'm aware of the history and progress. Thanks for sharing.

B.T.W, the Ukraine is a large territory. Vote to you.
